
Admissions Criteria
ScenicView Academy is committed to ensuring the resources we provide are appropriate to the needs of incoming students. Chronic healthcare needs or severe mental health concerns will be referred to other providers. ScenicView Academy provides therapy on an outpatient, as-needed basis.
In order to be considered for enrollment, applicants must meet the following criteria:
18 years or older and unmarried
Autism Spectrum Disorder, learning disability, or other related diagnostic profile
Have the capability and physical health to manage daily tasks and self-care
Motivation and potential to live independently
Not requiring continuous supervision to be safe and socially appropriate
No acute mental health issues, including suicidality and self-harm
Not convicted of a major crime such as a felony
No extreme behavioral problems or addictions
Have a financial sponsor to pay tuition (private pay only)
Successful students typically are:
Tested with an IQ level of 85 or above
18 to 39 years old
Free from excessive debt
Motivated to learn residential, vocational, academic, and social skills
Willing to receive feedback regarding independent living skills
Supported throughout the program by parents and family members
Other important factors:
If legal representation/guardianship is in place, the legal representative will be required to sign necessary documents acknowledging the right of the student to make key day-to-day decisions
Individuals diagnosed with Traumatic Brain Injury are typically not successful in the program
