Located at the mouth of Provo Canyon just a few minutes from Sundance Resort, ScenicView Academy (SVA) is a nationally recognized and accredited nonprofit school for adults 18-30 with autism spectrum disorders and other neurodiversities. Our 24/7 staff of caring, qualified professionals specialize in empowering each student to master the skills they need to achieve an independent, productive, and fulfilling life.
Upon acceptance, ScenicView assesses every student for their strengths and challenges and creates an individualized Transition Plan that leads them through scaffolded skills growth in critical life outcome areas, including relationships, health and fitness, resiliency, recreation, cooking, cleaning, academics, transportation, medical and money management, and employment. During the program, students work one-on-one and in small groups with teachers, mentors, skills specialists, vocational supervisors, and therapists to maximize their unique potential in each of these areas. In order to oversee their progress effectively, every student is assigned a Service Coordinator, who functions as a link to parents and programs and a guide to help students develop and follow their plan for autonomy. Because each student is given an opportunity to personalize SVA’s curriculum to their own individual goals, the length of the program will vary, but generally takes between 18 months and 3 years.
In our two decades of operation, SVA has served hundreds of clients, and our experience has taught us that our most successful students share some similar characteristics. These include an average or better IQ, Autism Spectrum Disorder, ADHD, and/or Learning Disabilities, and a strong desire to hold a job, make friends, and live on their own. The ScenicView student body consists of roughly 70 students; 55% male, 40% female, 5% non-binary. If you think that ScenicView might be right for you, please click here.
How it Began
Concerned parents Ray and Tye Noorda had been searching for an establishment committed to supporting young adults with learning differences in a values based atmosphere. After exploring available options nationwide, they struggled to find anything that would meet their child’s needs. While considering their predicament, Tye had the thought, “If not me, then who?”
This thought inspired the Noordas to build the school they needed, where individuals with learning differences could discover their true potential. In collaboration with families and professionals who shared their vision, and with support from other community partners, the Noordas created ScenicView Academy, a residential program designed to “Remember the One”.
Remember the One
"Remember the One" means that each student is unique, so our programming is designed to adjust to the needs and goals of each student.
