Housing Specialist

JaNae received her bachelor of science degree from BYU in Family, Child and Human Development. Shortly after, she became an advocate in the autism community when her oldest was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder in 1998 at age 2. Since then she has been serving individuals of all ages and their families affected by autism and other disabilities in a variety of education settings. She has worked with toddlers and  preschoolers, young children and teens in early intervention, public district school, charter school and private school settings. She enjoys working with all ages, but feels especially drawn to support youth and young adults in living flourishing, interdependent lives. She is thrilled to be working with the ScenicView team and the wonderful students here. She also volunteers her time with the Autism Resources of Utah County Council and chairs the Parent Advisory Group for the Melisa Nellesen Center for Autism at UVU.

As a parent of 4 children, representing a variety of disabilities--including cognitive and communication disorder, hard of hearing, epilepsy, mental illness, and ASD--JaNae and her family have come to define disability as “able through another way.” She loves living and working with those who are blazing “other way” trails and believes they were born to change the world! She is a big fan of parents raising ASD children and loves interacting with and learning from them. She also loves being outdoors, planning and organizing, watching stand-up comedy and storytelling, gardening, and creative writing.
