Char Romberg, M.Ed., BCBA, LBA
Char first joined ScenicView as an intern and is now our third full-time BCBA. She has been working with individuals with disabilities for over 12 years and had the opportunity to be trained in ABA from one of the world’s leading ABA experts at Autism Partnership. Char’s passion for inclusion led her to be Provo City’s first adaptive coordinator where she developed award winning adaptive recreation programs for children and adults with disabilities. Prior to coming to ScenicView she was a fundraising director for United Angels Foundation and a behavior technician for two public school districts. Char continues to learn from twin sisters with Down syndrome whom she has been able to support through their journey at school and at home over the last 7 years. Char enjoys being part of the animal rescue community in Utah where she is able to foster animals and help them find forever homes. She volunteers for Therapy Animal in Utah and is in the process of training one of her dogs to become a certified therapy dog. She has a bachelor's degree in Psychology with a minor in Autism Studies and a master's degree in Applied Behavior Analysis from UVU.
Shelly Hutchinson
Shelly graduated from Utah Valley University with a bachelor's degree in Psychology and a minor in Autism Studies and has worked at ScenicView Academy since 2016. While at UVU, she was privileged to engage in several research projects relating to mental health issues and autism. The results of those research projects have been presented at conferences locally as well as out-of-state. Shelly's passion for working with individuals with autism started when family members and friends had children who were diagnosed with autism. Since that time, she has been involved in implementing principles of behavior change in order to better serve those with whom she works and associates. Prior to receiving her bachelor's degree, Shelly worked as a teacher's assistant in an elementary school. The majority of her duties involved working individually or in small groups with children with learning differences. This experience taught her that everyone has strengths and that using those strengths can help individuals face their challenges. This concept has been enhanced and expanded upon in her work, teaching students how to create, revise, and implement systems in their daily lives. She loves assisting students in strengthening their executive function skills both individually as well as in the classroom setting. Shelly believes students become empowered as they gain confidence in their own problem-solving abilities. In her free time, Shelly loves exploring family history, traveling (especially to state and national parks), and playing games with friends and family.
